How to configure Cisco Aironet wireless card with LEAP protocol to work with CSUDH wireless network

This configuration and instruction has been tested with Cisco Aironet Client Utility version 6.3.011 and Driver Version 8.5.26.0. If you do not have the latest driver and utility you can download it from http://www.cisco.com

1.      Open Cisco Aironet Client Utility that was installed on your computer by clicking on Start, All Programs, Cisco Systems, Aironet Client Utility (ACU) (Figure 1).

2.      In the Aironet Client Utility box, click on Profile Manager.

3.      In the Profile Manager Box, click on Add button (Figure 2).

4.      Under Profile Management section, in the empty box, type a profile name, for example: STUDENT and click on OK (Figure 3). Profile name can be anything .

5.      In the 350 Series properties box, do the following (Figure 4):

·        In the Client Name box, type a name for your computer. The name can be any name and there may be a name already there.

·        In the SSID1 box, type the name of the wireless network you are trying to connect. If you are a student, type student and if you are a faculty/staff, type staff.

·        Make sure Network Type is Infrastructure.

6.      Click on Network Security tab in the 350 series Properties box and do the following (Figure 5):

·        Under Network Authentication chose LEAP

·        Under Data Encryption, Dynamic WEP will be automatically selected

·        Under Access Point Authentication, Open should be selected

·        Click on the Configure button by the LEAP option.

7.      In the same LEAP Settings box, do the following (Figure 6):

·        In the Username and Password Settings section, select Automatically Prompt for User Name and password

·        If you do not like to be prompted and enter your username and password all the time, then you may select Use Saved User Name and Password. After you select this option, type your username, password and confirm the password. Domain name is not necessary.

·        Under Logon Options, uncheck Include Windows Logon Domain with User Name

·        Click OK 3 times to go back to the Aironet Client Utility main page.

8.      At this point, you are ready to connect to CSUDH wireless network. If you are near a wireless network you will be prompted to enter your username and password or you will be automatically connected to the network based on the login option you have chosen. If you are connected, you will see the Cisco  icon in the system tray on the bottom right of your screen.
